NOVEMBER 18, 2025: Jones & Henry Engineers is thrilled to announce that the Michigan Water Environment Association has awarded the City of Kalamazoo Wastewater Division Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant the prestigious Michigan Premier Utility Management Performance (PUMP) Award. The accolade highlights the outstanding efforts made by the Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant in advancing water resource recovery practices aligned with the principles of Effective Utility Management (EUM).

The PUMP Award acknowledges municipal water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) in Michigan that demonstrate notable enhancements in treatment, staff development, and community engagement. The recognition reflects a commitment to excellence in utility management and sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and the community.

“The Kalamazoo Water Reclamation Plant has consistently shown dedication to innovation and improvement,” says Aaron J. Davenport, PE, the Jones & Henry Kalamazoo Office Director. “We are proud to have nominated them for this honor and are elated to see their efforts recognized at the upcoming Wastewater Administrators Conference in Frankenmuth this January.”

With this award, Kalamazoo joins an elite group of facilities that prioritize efficient operations and community involvement in water resource recovery. The recognition highlights the collaborative effort between municipal staff and engineering partners, such as Jones & Henry Engineers.

Kalamazoo’s Wastewater Division expressed heartfelt gratitude to Jones & Henry Engineers for their support in achieving this milestone. The successful nomination process underscores the importance of teamwork in achieving the shared goal of implementing exemplary water management practices.
