Ted Bennett accepted the award at Washington, D.C. event.
Ted Bennett, PE, Vice President and Director of Infrastructure for Jones & Henry, accepted an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) on May 20 at the ACEC Gala Dinner and Awards Program at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. The national award recognizes the Ford Road Pump Station replacement project for the Northwestern Water & Sewer District.
The award marks another high-profile recognition for the project, which has also received a 2025 ACEC Outstanding Achievement Award at the state level, a 2025 ASCE Project of the Year award, and a 2025 ASCE Toledo Section Project of the Year award.
The Ford Road Pump Station, an essential part of the region’s water management system, underwent a significant upgrade and a complete redesign. The old pump station, which had become outdated and inefficient, was replaced with a modern submersible-style system that enhances safety for both operations and the surrounding environment. The project utilizes advanced technology and innovative engineering, featuring variable-speed drives that enable the new pump station to respond effectively to changing water flow conditions. A thoughtfully designed control building seamlessly integrates with the community.
Fitted with cutting-edge equipment and capable of meeting The District’s long-term sewage pumping demands, the Ford Road initiative sets a new benchmark for sustainable and community-oriented infrastructure by reducing environmental impact and supporting future growth.
