The Town of Waterloo, Indiana received an OCRA grant in 2000 to create a Master Plan of their wastewater and storm water systems. At that time, they hired Jones & Henry to prepare the study, and we have worked together to make numerous improvements to their sanitary sewers.
In 2016, the Town wanted a study to provide utilities to the area west of Interstate 69 along US 6. Property owners in the area had requested the town to provide water and sanitary services. The Town used local funds to hire Jones & Henry to identify improvements needed in the existing utilities infrastructure, as well as assess the additional infrastructure needs to serve the property owners for future needs in the area west of I-69 and US 6.
Jones & Henry reviewed existing utility improvements in the area along with topography and GIS information to identify the best routes under I-69. A private sanitary force main was installed in 2006. It was determined it could handle future growth, but improvements were needed downstream of it. An existing force main needed upsized. The distribution system needed a significance study to determine pipe sizing, pressure concerns and if the existing water plant can handle the additional demand. Jones & Henry created a hydraulic model of the distribution system as a tool to review test and analyze existing system and proposed improvements.
The 2016 Utility Improvements study provided by Jones & Henry for the Town of Waterloo provides the information in a format necessary to pursue grant / loan funding and prioritize capital improvements for their town utilities.
