Christopher Vitelli

Whether tackling infrastructure challenges or enjoying outdoor adventures, Chris Vitelli blends his passion for engineering with a zest for life.

Among young engineers, Chris Vitelli stands out as a remarkable example of passion and dedication. At Jones & Henry Engineers, he skillfully weaves his professional pursuits with his personal interests, truly making a positive impact in the industry.

Early Life and Education

Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Chris grew up playing knothole baseball and attended Mason High School. His journey into engineering began in his childhood, where his curiosity about how things work was evident. Growing up near Kings Island amusement park ignited a fascination with design, particularly in roller coasters. That enthusiasm set the course for his future endeavors in civil engineering.

Chris attended The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in May 2022. His experience at OSU strengthened his understanding of engineering principles and prepared him for a successful career in the professional field.

Professional Journey

After completing his degree, Chris took his first steps into the professional world. He began his career as a Design Engineer at Viox & Viox in Erlanger, Kentucky, where he worked for a year. That initial role allowed him to apply his knowledge and skills in a practical setting, while further fueling his passion for engineering.

Seeking to broaden his experience and pursue his interest in the water industry, Chris transitioned to a position with the Greater Cincinnati Water Works. For three years, he tackled diverse engineering challenges, contributing to meaningful projects that positively impacted the community.

In January 2026, eager to return to the private sector and enhance his design skills, Chris joined Jones & Henry’s Cincinnati office. His journey reflects a strategic approach to career development and a commitment to making a difference in the water industry, particularly as it faces the pressing issues of aging infrastructure.

Making an Impact

Chris’s passion for engineering transcends mere design; it’s rooted in the impact his work has on society. Having initial exposure to the water industry while working for Viox & Viox sparked Chris’s interest in the field, where he acknowledges that much infrastructure is operating beyond its design life.

“For decades, water engineers were busy addressing population growth and sustaining existing structures and facilities,” explains Chris. “As a result, deterioration has become a critical problem to address,” he emphasizes, highlighting the vital role engineers play in maintaining and improving community infrastructure.

Personal Interests

Outside of his professional life, Chris is a multifaceted individual with diverse interests. An avid guitar player, he enjoys attending live concerts, particularly those featuring his favorite artist, Jason Isbell. Chris also embraces the great outdoors, spending time camping and backpacking in the serene landscapes of Kentucky’s Daniel Boone National Forest and West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest.

When not on the trails or at concerts, Chris enjoys the thrill of motorcycle riding, cruising on his classic 2010 Triumph Bonneville. An avid runner, he recently completed his first marathon, the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, a testament to his dedication and perseverance.

Chris is married to his high school sweetheart, Natalee, whom he met through friends during their senior year. Married last year, they share their home with their beloved Labrador mix, Frankie. A fun surprise about Chris is his passion for pastry baking—specifically macarons. “I like eating pastries, so I thought I’d better know how to make them,” he says, showcasing his creative side.

Conclusion

Chris finds Jones & Henry’s 100th anniversary exciting and reassuring. “Many of the company’s original clients still work with Jones & Henry,” marvels Chris. “That demonstrates the firm’s long-standing commitment to quality work and the significant relationships it has maintained over the years.” He looks forward to contributing to a variety of projects and continuing to learn as much as possible.

As he continues to forge his path in engineering, Chris Vitelli’s dedication to both his profession and personal pursuits exemplifies a holistic approach to life. He operates with values of reliability, trustworthiness, and friendliness—qualities that not only define his character but also enhance his contributions to the engineering community. With every project he undertakes, Chris is ready to make a lasting impact, proving that engineering is more than a career; it is a chance to shape the future.
