Jones & Henry Engineers Announces Promotions and New Team Members

Jones & Henry Engineers is excited to share the addition of numerous team members across our office locations in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan to grow and expand our capabilities in support of our clients’ engineering needs in Water Plants and Distribution, Wastewater Plants and Collection, as well as underground Infrastructure and a variety of support needs. In our Toledo, Ohio office, we have welcomed the following additions to our team over this past year:


Kyle Bucher, Engineer, Structural Team
Kyle recently joined the Jones & Henry Engineers Structural Design Discipline team and is enjoying the opportunity to learn with an experienced team and further his knowledge of structural engineering and design. Kyle brings his own experience to the team as well, having most recently practiced at Sponseller Group more than 2 years as a Structural Designer and spending 5 years prior with Materion Corporation as a Civil Facilities Engineer. Having graduated in 2013 from the University of Toledo with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Kyle notes that he loves being in this industry, where each day is something new — requiring you to be an active problem solver.

Karen Downey, Project Assistant, Infrastructure Team
When Karen joined the Jones & Henry Engineers team, she brought with her more than 20 years of experience in the construction, engineering, and architectural industry. Working to assist all departments, but primarily focusing on coordination of the Infrastructure team, Karen contributes to efforts including proposals and pre-qualifications, coordination of projects for design and construction success, as well as safety and training needs. Karen notes that she is honored to work behind the scenes with her team, who noted she is already known as the “glue that keeps the team together.”

Ben Drill, Associate, Senior Technician, CAD Team Leader
Ben has been a valued member of the Jones & Henry Engineers team for over 19 years. After gaining his Associates Degree in Architectural Construction in 2000 from Owens State Community College, Ben gained field experience and then joined us, where he has added tremendous value in his tenure on our team. Ben was promoted to an Associate of the firm this past year, where he is a Senior Technician and CAD Team Leader. In his position, Ben has worked on projects impacting regional communities through street and sewer improvements as well as wastewater treatment plant designs. Ben continues to help propel the capabilities of our team and is currently initiating more projects for completion utilizing Revit for 3D modeling of structures, piping, and improvements. He shared that he loves the industry we are in, because it is so important to everyone. We all require clean water to survive.

Sarah Helbig, Executive Director of Marketing
Sarah joined the Jones & Henry Engineers team to ensure the communities in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan are aware of our engineering capabilities. Having graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, her career has focused on leading clients to success in the advertising and marketing consulting industry, having been primarily focused in building products. As our Sales and Marketing leader, Sarah’s professional experience lends itself to connecting with people, understanding the challenges they face in their communities, and building opportunities for us to partner for successful outcomes. Sarah noted it is an honor to build upon the legacy of the company, who has developed work supporting communities in our tri-state for nearly 100 years. She is excited to bring attention to the work that is done in our industry, which so many people overlook and take for granted. Look for Sarah connecting with industry professionals across Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.

Charles Lender, Technician
Joining our team earlier this year, Charles earned his Associate of Science degree in Drafting and Design Technology from St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, Florida in 2013. Charles works across many of our disciplines performing CAD design, working closely with our design engineers. Charles shared that he is excited that his position here lets him do what he loves to do. He has a passion for drafting that he discovered and has not wavered from since high school. Charles is jumping into the industry, learning from his peers and mentors on the team and bringing his energy to solve needs for our clients’ communities.

Brian Lohmann, P.E., Senior Engineer, Mechanical Team Leader
Brian joined the team last Fall and is the Jones & Henry Engineers Mechanical Discipline leader. After graduating from University of Toledo in 1987 with his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Brian pursued his career and gained experience at Arcadis for over 28 years before he joined our team. Brian is excited to provide our clients with the best consulting services using his past experience in the HVAC and plumbing design fields.

Dan Miller, P.E., Director of Wastewater, Senior Engineer
With passion for engineering consulting, Dan returned this past year to Jones & Henry Engineers after sharing 4 years of his industry expertise with customers of Pelton Environmental as a manufacturing sales representative. Dan had spent 35 years at Jones & Henry Engineers prior to Pelton and is excited to be back, since he enjoys consulting and problem solving. As our Director of Wastewater, Dan is working on wastewater plant designs and helping guide the growth of the wastewater group, as well as connect with our clients by solving their challenges.

Allison Mitchell, Engineer, Infrastructure Team
Allison formerly joined Jones & Henry Engineers for three internships during her college experience at Ohio Northern University, where she graduated in 2018 with a BS in Civil Engineering and concentration in Environmental Engineering. She spent a year at Access Engineering Solutions before the opportunity recently presented itself to return to Jones & Henry full-time. Allison will be primarily working on sewer design, waterline design, and water modeling for the Infrastructure Team. Allison noted that she is excited to join our team, producing work with integrity and high quality – which develops lifelong relationships with clients.

Renee Williamson, Accounting Assistant
Renee recently joined Jones & Henry Engineers in support of our Accounting Team, garnering her experience as a bookkeeper at DeWalt & Gallup, a full-service professional tax and accounting firm. Renee was aware of our reputation among past business contacts as providing a high-level of quality in our services and looks forward to becoming an integral part of our Accounting Group.

 

Our Kalamazoo, Michigan office continues to experience growth, as we support our long-time clients as well as welcoming new relationships, supported by a growing staff including:

William Hansen, Engineer, Infrastructure Team
William joined Jones & Henry Engineers prior to graduation from The University of Toledo last year, where his numerous co-op experiences with our team contributed to his degree in Environmental Engineering. William’s attitude, desire to succeed and build his knowledge for our team made him a great candidate to join us full-time. His relocation to our Kalamazoo office will allow him to continue to grow and contribute to our Michigan clients. William noted that he loves this industry, because he is providing a service that is of the highest importance. Fresh, clean water is a resource we should all be able to enjoy.

Alexis Kontorousis, Engineer, Wastewater Team
Alexis joined Jones & Henry Engineers recently, bringing her prior experience as a Production Engineering Associate Wastewater Engineer for Cargill. Alexis graduated from Michigan State University in Biosystems Engineering and joins Jones & Henry to work on various wastewater plant designs, odor studies, watermain designs, and more. Alexis has brought energy to the table — driven by the excitement of solving challenges and partnering skilled team members, pairing them with clients to help uncover the best solutions for the communities we live in.

 

From our Cincinnati, Ohio office, we continue to grow our team to support the Southern part of Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southern Indiana.

Jake Meinerding, P.E., Cincinnati Office Director, Project Manager
Jake has been a valuable employee for over twelve years following his graduation from Ohio Northern University, where he gained his degree in Civil Engineering before pursuing his Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Jake has been intricately involved in studies, designs, and construction projects and was recently the lead designer and project manager for his hometown of St. Marys’ new water treatment plant, which is currently under construction.His dedication to the success of Jones & Henry Engineers’ clients and internal team leadership made him a natural choice for his recent promotion to Cincinnati Office Director. We are fortunate to have Jake as a leader on our team and look forward to many years of success with our regional office which serves Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Jake notes that what he enjoys most about the water/wastewater industry is that every project is unique and presents new challenges. There are rarely cookie-cutter solutions, and his role enables him to work with many types of engineers and other professionals. Jake is looking forward to leading the staff in the Cincinnati office and assisting communities with their needs.

TJ Gilkey, Engineer, Water Team
TJ joined Jones & Henry Engineers as a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Civil Engineering and also brings with him four years of experience as a plumbing designer at Thorson Baker & Associates. TJ is excited to be working for Jones & Henry Engineers, because we deal with all things water. TJ noted, water is one of the most valuable resources on the planet and dictates quality of life.

 

Growing our efforts in our Fort Wayne, Indiana office, we have promoted the following individuals to support our growth and continue to grow our expertise for clients in the Indiana market.

John Magsam, P.E., Associate, Senior Engineer, Infrastructure Team
John has a depth of experience in our industry and adds value to any project he is engaged in. Prior to joining Jones & Henry Engineers, John worked for the Allen County Surveyor’s Office as a Drainage Designer, then for the City of Auburn, as well as GAI Consultants. A seasoned professional and member of our Infrastructure team, John was promoted this past year to an Associate of the firm. In his work, John most frequently contributes to the success of underground projects related to water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems. John notes he enjoys working with clients to solve their water issues and likes to see projects from beginning of the study to the end, through final delivery. He feels great driving through a City, Town, or Village and pointing out the projects he has worked on to his family. Although there isn’t much to see when its mostly underground, he knows it’s there.
